Since IBM and Microsoft are competitors, wouldn't it make more sense for IBM/Lotus to help create a viable alternative to the Windows platform for desktops? After all, MS products do not run well (to say the least) on Linux and thus IBM would have a whole new O/S area all to itself as a "big boy" of the IT world.
